New Tournament Format
The 2026 FIFA World Cup introduces a revolutionary 48-team format. Gone are the 8 groups of four teams; instead, 12 groups of four will compete for a place in the knockout rounds.
The qualifying logic has also shifted. To reach the newly established Round of 32, teams must finish in the top two of their respective groups. However, in a twist that increases drama, the eight best third-placed finishers will also advance, ensuring that almost every group match remains high-stakes until the final whistle.
